Speaker 1:
This patient wants to have her upper eyelids done. That involves excising the skin, the muscle, the fat, and sewing everything up.
The skin’s very thin here, thinner than a piece of paper. Underneath it is the muscle, so one wants to be very careful.
Now we’re cauterizing to stop any bleeding.
Okay, so here we removed the eyelid skin, and that is the muscle. We’re going to remove some of the muscle now. So we’re removing the muscle, being very careful not to cut the inner aspect of the eyelid.
So here’s the excess fat that causes the bulge on the upper eyelids that we’re going to remove. Right here, this is the muscle that attaches to the eyelashes that elevate the eyelid.
So here we are after we removed the fat. You can see the muscle that attaches to the upper eyelid. And now we’re going to remove a little muscle here to help tighten everything up.
So here we removed the excess skin, the excess fat, the muscle, and we’re going to sew everything up.
So here, I haven’t sutured it up yet, but you can see that the incision is almost closing by itself.
And here we are finished. Everything’s sewn up. The incision will heal very nicely, and then we pull that stitch out later on after surgery.
